Artist-in-Residence Program

The Artist-in-Residence Program began in 2019 when Board Member Dr. Sarah M. Straub sought to realize a vision of highlighting the power of art and activism at the Texas NAME Conference.  Since then, we have welcomed a new Artist-in-Residence for each of our conferences.  The artist presents a commissioned piece and will sell that piece along with additional work.  100% of the proceeds plus an honorarium are delivered to the artist, who then uses those funds to continue their development and/or "artivism".

This year's Artist-in-Residence is IBRAIM NASCIMENTO!  Please check out his website at www.ibraimnascimento.com to learn more about Ibraim and start saving up in case you are interested in purchasing his work at our conference!

Artist-in-Residence Program

About

The Artist-in-Residence Program was initiated in 2019 by Dr. Sarah M. Straub, who wished to share the powerful link between art and activism.  Since then, we have welcomed a new Artist-in-Residence each year.  The artist is invited to share their work and sells a TXNAME commissioned work at the conference.  The proceeds from the sale plus the honorarium go directly to the artist to continue their artivism.
