The Texas Journal for Multicultural Education accepts proposals on a rolling basis for our December issue each year.​ Submissions are due September 30, 2026 for the December 2026 issue. Before submitting, please read all submission instructions.

Emerging Scholars Alumni Issue – April 2026
​
The Texas Journal for Multicultural Education (TXJME) invites submissions for an Emerging Scholars Alumni Issue to be published in April 2026. This issue honors the voices, scholarship, and continued growth of scholars who have participated in the TXNAME Emerging Scholars Program as mentors or mentees by providing space for Emerging Scholars alumni to share how their thinking, research, and practice have evolved and how their work continues to contribute to the field of multicultural education.

Eligibility
To submit to this special issue, authors must have previously participated in the TXNAME Emerging Scholars Program as either a mentor or mentee.
​
Accepted Manuscript Types
TXJME welcomes a range of scholarly contributions, including:

Empirical research articles
-
Conceptual or critical literature reviews
-
Research briefs
-
Policy briefs
-
Book reviews
In addition, personal narratives and research-in-progress manuscripts will be considered only from authors who attend Emerging Scholars Day at the TXNAME Biennial Conference on March 5, 2026 at Prairie View A&M University. Attendance at Emerging Scholars Day is required for submission of these two manuscript types.

Submission Process
Manuscripts should be submitted through the TXJME submission system in accordance with journal guidelines.
​
We look forward to highlighting the continued impact, inquiry, and leadership of our Emerging Scholars alumni and to showcasing work that advances multicultural education through research, reflection, and practice.

2026 Conference & Webinar Proceedings
​
All conference presenters are invited to submit a manuscript for our summer Conference & Webinar Proceedings issue of the Texas Journal for Multicultural Education. To be considered for publication, please include your manuscript with your conference proposal.
Submission Requirements

Submissions must follow APA 7 guidelines for formatting, citations, and references.

Submissions must be 5-10 pages in length, excluding references.
-
All listed authors must have been present and/or active in the presentation.

Authors who contributed to the research but did not attend and/or present will not be listed.
-
Submissions must align with the conference theme of “Rooted and Reaching: Honoring Heritage, Inspiring Futures” in multicultural education.
Types of Manuscripts Accepted

Empirical Research
-
Completed qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods studies.

Submissions must include the following labeled sections: Introduction, Problem/Purpose Statement, Literature Review, Methodology, Results/Findings, Discussion and Implications, Conclusion.

Research in Progress
-
Ideal for poster or roundtable presentations on qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods studies that are in progress.

Submissions must include the following labeled sections: Introduction, Problem/Purpose Statement, Literature Review, Methodology, Preliminary Findings, Discussion and Next Steps, Conclusion.

Research Briefs
-
Concise summaries of a single scholarly research paper or several scholarly research papers on a single theme.

Submissions must include the following labeled sections: Introduction; Problem Statement and Research Objectives; Methodology; Key Findings; Discussion, Implications, and Future Research Opportunities; Conclusion.

Policy Briefs
-
Communicate practical implications of existing or recommended policies to education practitioners, researchers, and students.

Submissions must include the following labelled sections: Introduction, Current/Proposed Policy Analysis, Policy Alternatives, Discussion and Implications, Conclusion.

Practitioner Narratives
-
Personal expressions of lived experience or lessons from the field of multicultural education supported by extant scholarship. In place of traditional Methodology and Findings sections, the author will share their first-person experiences, best practice(s), and/or lessons learned with descriptive evidence.

Submissions must include the following labelled sections: Introduction; Problem Statement; Context and Positionality; Literature Review; Practitioner Experience; Discussion and Implications; Conclusion.
